University of Illinois Writing Project

2008 Invitational Summer Institute

The Invitational Summer Institute is the cornerstone of the UIWP, and is designed for experienced teachers from all disciplines and at all levels of instruction. Participating teachers will have opportunities to demonstrate their own best practices and classroom successes; study writing theory and research; experience the writing process by writing and sharing their writing in small groups; learn about digital literacy and video as a rhetorical medium through hands-on training; and publish their work on-line.

The 2008 Invitational Summer Institute will take place at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign campus from June 9 to July 3 from 9 am-4 pm, Monday through Friday. We are currently recruiting the area's strongest teachers who wish to focus on digital literacy and instructional technology, learn about best practices for teaching writing, demonstrate effective classroom strategies, and become part of a national community of professionals.

Summer Institute participants will earn four hours of graduate credit and receive a stipend of $1,000 which can be put toward the cost of tuition if they do not have a UIUC tuition and fee waiver to use for that purpose.

If you have any questions, please contact Libbie Morley at elmorley@uiuc.edu or 217-333-8796.
